The shop supervisor is responsible:
• Plan, organize and direct work assigned to
mechanic personnel
• Keep district in compliance with district,
state and federal laws
• Work with transportation coordinator regarding
district schedules
• Developing vendor contacts
• Overseeing the procurement of supplies and
equipment
• Evaluate financial budgets
• Review requests for vehicle repairs
• Identifying and correcting safety concerns
• Hiring and training of mechanic personnel
• Developing schedules for personnel
• Determine priority needs of the district
regarding mechanic related services
• Maintain all records as related to mechanic
service
• Participate in special projects as assigned
• Regional travel required
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities And/Or Competencies Required To Successfully Perform The Work:
• Knowledge of required documentation mandated by
district, state and federal requirements
• Knowledge of manufactures, maintenance
requirements and warrant procedures
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations
• Knowledge of school district procurement
procedures
• Ability to supervise a growing mechanic staff
• Excellent skills in written and verbal
communication
• Participate in year vehicle inspections
• Ability to schedule and administer fleet
maintenance and ability to troubleshoot
• Maintains records on all district vehicles
• Hands on mechanic as necessary
• Ability to be detailed oriented
• Ability to complete reports in a timely fashion
• Prepare facilities for inspections and
participate
• Respond to district emergences
• Ability to lift objects weighing 75 pounds
Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification Required For Entry Into Position:
• Five years experience with vehicle maintenance
• At least two years experience in supervisory
role
Terms of Employment: 12 months
